In the past this was the first house in the village from the direction of Bled. Its position suggests that it might also have been the earliest house built in the village. When houses were assigned consecutive numbers at the end of 1770, the house of Matevž Gracelj, the last person bearing that surname (in 1809, a Mulej from Studenčice likely married into the family), was given number 2. The photograph shows Helena Mulej, married name Peternelj.

Through the female lineage (Helena Peternelj, née Mulej, and her daughter Marija Peternelj, married name Lesan), the family has persisted through the centuries to the present day, along with the house name. Before this, the records mention Cristann Grazel, followed by Jurij and, in 1578, his son Lienhart. In the 1630s, Matija Gracel is recorded as the householder.
